Ibiza
Spring is here and the fever has begun. As happens every year in this crazy weather town of ours, the first sign of any temperature above 39 degrees finds locals running from their captivity tearing the winter clothes from their backs and basking themselves in the first sunbeams which herald in our freedom. We have lakes, we have parks, and we have rivers and woods. What we do not have, however, is one continuous party on the shores of pristine ocean surrounded by lithe bodies dancing, sunbathing and living in the moment. There are men, there are women and there are many in between. Why? Because it’s Ibiza.
Ibiza is a small island in the cluster of the Balearic Islands lying about 200 miles off the East coast of Spain. It can be reached by most major European airports in about two hours or if you happen to enjoy the ferry it takes about two hours from the coast of mainland Spain.
This tiny island, only about 100 miles long and half as wide is populated by a small number of locals, but during the summer months it grows exponentially with numbers of tourists to become the largest party in the Mediterranean.
Most of us think of beach vacations
during the long, cold winter months and stay close to home during our short,
beautiful summer. But those of us who worked too hard to holiday during the
winter or are lucky enough to get away again should take a look at what Ibiza
has to offer.
The party does not get started until May and does not stop until the end
of October. Right in the middle is August with the full moon and the
fullest capacity. The only way to avoid the crowds in August is to get up
with the sun, find a secluded beach and go to bed early. That way you will
be on the opposite schedule from the rest of the island. They will find you
on the beach around noon so early birds get a half day of complete serenity.
Here are a couple of beaches to look for but the best ones can only be found once you arrive and are let in on the secrets.

Cala Boix Beach
Very safe and close enough to restaurants although you better not be
afraid of steep stairs or you will never get down.

Cala Vadella Beach
A protected bay with an amazing view and serene shallow water makes this
the perfect place for those who are a little wave shy.
Although these two are stunning, there are over 40 more public beaches much like these to choose from once you arrive. You can go to a different beach all holiday long based on your interests. Choose snorkeling or sunsets, privacy or nudity. Every imaginable activity can be found on any of the Ibiza beaches.
Once the sun goes down the island seems to hibernate as all the tourists head home to eat dinner, take a nap and set the alarm for midnight when nocturnal action begins. If you are shy then this is not the place for you. But if you have partying on the agenda the places to be are Amnesia, El Divino, Space, Kiss-Somny, Pacha, DC10, Eden, Privilege or Pacha. Schedules vary and should be checked when you arrive but guaranteed you will find yourself hopping from place to place until sunrise.
What better way to bring in summer than a week of sun and party off the coast of Spain with people from all over the world? Don’t forget to add two vacation days for when you get home because you will need them just to recover!
