Shimmer, Glitter, Furry Fun!

by Josephine

The mood for this current fall season is very upbeat. There is newly found excitement amongst all the fashion clan as they get snippets of the new seasons merchandise. The inspirations behind the season’s trends seem to be drawing from the past but reworked in new ways and some times mixed together in unusual pairings as outfits. From my chair it all looks like such a good time…but not all of us are comfortable making sense of all of this so I'm going to break it down into the essentials. For fall 2004 you will need something tailored, something luxurious, something decorated, and something colored.

Tailoring is the backbone to the women’s silhouettes for the season.  Have fun again with the man tailored look of blazers, or a knee length topcoat.  If nothing else the most important piece to get you self this season is a great trench coat (hint; try one in cat print).

Dressing in something luxurious is so easy this season and not expensive so don’t get scared.  Fur, fur, fur. You thought it was back last fall well its really back this fall.  It is easy to find.  Everyone has it.  There are so many different versions that don’t have to be the serious coat if you don’t want it to.  Fur can be found in all the trend silhouettes like, jackets, shrugs, ponchos and even in handbags.  If you just can’t do the fur thing then how about velvet!!

Lets talk about something decorated.  This means anything that shimmers and glimmers.   If you are not already wearing brooches on everything then it is time you do.  Other flashy things are rhinestones on clothing, bags, charms, belts you name it.

Colors.  Colors have been so strong for a year now and they are in no way dwindling.  Get yourself something in one of the jeweled toned bright colors of the season.  While I would recommend wearing it on your body it is also extremely important in a handbag.  Make your statement with your accessory if need be.

Have fun getting dressed this fall and don’t take it so seriously!
