Photographic works by the post-war Swiss photographer, Werner Bischof, are currently on display at The Minneapolis Institute of Arts. Bischof, originally a successful studio photographer, became a member of the Magnum Photo group in 1949 and created a well-known body of work documenting the aftermath of WWII.

Bischof focused on capturing the humanity of his subjects and is remembered as a classic of black and white photography. He died at age 38 in an accident in Peru.

This exhibit includes 60-70 images that explore Bischof’s work from 1932-1954. These images are from MIA’s permanent collection and from publications of Bischof’s work.
