From The Bottom Up

by Ini Iyamba

It is said that the true mark of a man can be equated to his shoes and how he takes care of them. There is no secret that when a man walks into a room both women and men alike check him out from head to toe and no matter how displaced the rest of his out fit is, if his shoes are fly, then he will always be marked by those fly-ass shoes. So for the New Year, we at theskini are going to dress our men from the bottom up (our favorite way!).

This season we see the continuation of the athletic influence. Trainers and dress shoes are infused with details like Velcro tabs, striping, perforated materials, and rubber on heels and toes.

The urban cowboy inspired looks are very strong. Boots and shoes have been updated for this season in exotic skins and colors.

The classic loafer is back but there is nothing classic about it. All are mostly relaxed and unconstructed in supple suede and warm toned colors. Some may be in novelty leathers or have technical driving details for comfort.

The more formal shoes take on special detailing with top-stitching to give it a more casual appeal.

Sandals are still popular, but we’re in transition time and it’s too cold to let my toes peak out. Shoes are what it’s all about for men this Spring but keep in mind, no matter what shoes you pick, the focus for the season is on novelty details.
